At Sage Summit in Atlanta this May, Sage rolled out the first release of its long-awaited Production Management module. This module replaces the legacy Work Order module and brings the functionality into the Sage 100 “framework”, meaning its architecture is more consistent with the rest of the Sage 100 product.
The release of the new Sage Production Management Module has everyone excited…including us! Bringing the old Work Order module to framework is a big deal and we at ScanForce are anxious to release our Production Management Automation as soon as possible.
With the excitement of this release, there seems to be quite a bit of confusion, as well. Most of the confusion we have heard centers around the integration with other solutions.
Misconception #1: The DSD/ScanForce Multi-Bin solution that Sage has selected and included with Sage 100cloud is not compatible with Production Management.
Clarification: The two solutions are compatible in the sense that they can be installed together within the same Sage 100 install.

As confirmed by Sage, DSD/ScanForce Multi-Bin and Sage Production Management will co-exist in the same Sage install without issue. ScanForce is planning a release that will not only automate the Production Management transactions, but also allow the use of the popular DSD/ScanForce Multi-Bin included with Sage 100cloud and Production Management. Misconception #2: The new Production Management module includes a barcode solution or is otherwise somehow tied to a specific barcode solution.
Clarification: Sage Product Management continues with a second clarification:
“The Production Management module does not inherently include a barcode solution. Our customers have a choice and will continue to have a choice in barcode scanning solutions”.
No sage customer who has ScanForce, or is using DSD/ScanForce Multi-Bin will be required to change their WMS or Multi-Bin solutions. Sage does not have a barcode solution on their price list, and they encourage customers to choose the provider that best meets their needs.
