When every hour is self-reported, nothing adds up.

Before ScanForce, TE Technology ran labor and inventory the way most manufacturers eventually outgrow: on paper. Timesheets were filled out by hand, and there was no system for tracking inventory transactions or where items physically lived on the floor.

That gap showed up everywhere. Without visibility into who was working on what, the team couldn’t tell how much labor a job actually needed, so they missed chances to reallocate people before a schedule slipped. Self-reported hours were unreliable, which left production planning without dependable history, and the costs assigned to items were often wrong.

Inventory had the same problem in reverse. With no bin locations, staff couldn’t easily tell what had cleared inspection, what was ready to ship, or where to find a part at all.

The Solution

TE Technology was introduced to ScanForce by their Sage partner, Bernie Lehman of Lehman Wesley, who had already helped other manufacturers get their labor tracking under control. Instead of relying on handwritten timesheets, staff now scan labor directly against work orders, feeding Sage with granular, timestamped data in real time.

The rollout didn’t stop at labor. TE Technology also implemented Multi-Bin Management, using virtual bins as queues for specific departments. Staff scan materials as they’re issued to work orders or moved between locations, and are guided straight to the correct bin.
